Skill Reality

Use case

Preventive maintenance

Step-by-step PM guidance in the technician's line of sight. Both hands on the equipment. Every step logged and the work order closed automatically.

The job to be done

Technicians run PM procedures on complex equipment, often without recent hands-on experience with that specific machine. Carrying a paper work order and referencing a binder means at least one hand is off the equipment. Mistakes extend downtime and create safety exposure. Skill Reality puts the procedure, parts references, and torque specs directly in the technician's glasses, so both hands stay on the work.

Before and after Skill Reality

Without Skill Reality

  • Technician carries a paper work order and a procedure binder
  • One hand holds the document while the other works on the equipment
  • Steps are checked off on a form after the fact, from memory
  • Missing a step is discovered during the next failure or inspection

With Skill Reality

  • Procedure appears step by step in the glasses, no paper required
  • Both hands stay on the equipment throughout the job
  • Parts references and torque specs are visible at the step where they are needed
  • Each step is confirmed and logged before the procedure advances
  • Work order is closed automatically when the last step is confirmed

How Skill Reality helps

Open the order, follow the steps, close the record

  1. 01. Technician opens the PM order by equipment ID

The technician selects the PM order in the glasses using the equipment asset ID. The correct procedure loads automatically, matched to the machine and the maintenance interval.

  2. 02. Each step is displayed with parts references and specs

Steps appear one at a time. Where relevant, the glasses display the required part number, torque value, or measurement. The technician navigates to the next step with a hands-free gesture.

  3. 03. Completion is confirmed at each step and the record is closed

Each step confirmation is logged with a timestamp and the technician's ID. When the final step is confirmed, the work order record is closed automatically and available to the maintenance lead.
