Changeover
Switching production equipment from one product or format to another.
A changeover is the process of reconfiguring equipment on a production line to run a different product or package format. It is one of the most procedure-intensive activities on a plant floor.
Changeovers require workers to follow a specific sequence of steps: draining, flushing, disassembling, adjusting, reassembling, and verifying. Errors during changeover can lead to cross-contamination, quality failures, or equipment damage.
Guided changeover procedures on smart glasses and wearables keep both of the worker’s hands free throughout the process and reduce reliance on paper checklists or recalled memory. Each completed step is logged automatically, giving quality and operations teams a clear record of every changeover.
